Bearings are critical components in wire EDM machines. Their quality directly affects wire feeding accuracy and service life. Imported bearings generally perform better, but counterfeits sold under imported brands are widespread, so knowing how to verify them matters.
1. Three Verification Points

Check the color
Look for a greenish tint. A greenish cast indicates better bearing steel — dedicated bearing steel has a green tone, while ordinary steel, carbon steel and malleable iron used by small shops and counterfeiters generally look whitish.
Check the packaging
Established brands have dedicated designers for packaging and use qualified print shops, so genuine imported bearing packaging is consistently neat and well produced. Rough packaging with blurred printing is a strong sign of a fake.

Check the stamped markings
Genuine bearings carry the brand, model and identification numbers stamped on the body. Reputable manufacturers use professional stamping technique and press the marks before heat treatment, so the letters are small but deeply recessed, crisp and clean. Counterfeits show blurred, shallow, poorly made printing — sometimes the marks can be wiped off by hand.
2. Purchasing Advice

- Buy wire EDM bearings carefully; counterfeit “imported” bearings seriously degrade machine quality.
- Prefer authorized channels and ask for proper invoices and warranty.
- For critical positions — guide wheel bearings and wire spool bearings — choose established brands to protect machining accuracy.
Summary: Applying the three checks — color, packaging and stamped markings — together with authorized purchasing, effectively filters out counterfeit bearings and protects machine accuracy and longevity.
