Wire EDM machines are precision equipment, and vibration during operation directly affects machining accuracy. Sources of vibration fall into two groups: the external environment and the machine itself.
1. External Environment

- Nearby vibration sources. If large vibrating equipment operates nearby, add anti-vibration pads under the machine corners or dig an isolation trench.
- Machine placement. If the floor is uneven or the machine is not level, level the machine and fit anti-vibration pads under the corners.

2. Machine Components
- Ball screw bearings. Replace if damaged.
- Spool bearings. If the left and right supports shake when the spool runs, replace the spool bearings.
- Spool coupling. Check for clearance in the fit and for shaking at reversal.
- Spool motor. Check whether it runs with shake or noise.
- Wire feed screw and nut. Excessive clearance makes spool travel uneven.
- Ball screws and stepper motors. Confirm the ball screws run clean and smooth and the screw motors run smoothly without noise.

3. Suggested Order of Work
- Check the external environment first — nearby equipment and leveling — to eliminate basic vibration sources.
- Then inspect the machine in the order: bearings, coupling, motor, screw and nut.
- Vibration usually involves worn rotating parts or excessive clearance; replace damaged parts promptly.
- If the source cannot be identified, call in professional service rather than running a faulty machine.
Summary: Deal with outside causes first, then the machine. Leveling and anti-vibration pads address the environment; checking wear and clearance addresses the components. Working through the list finds and fixes the source.
